A book store in France and some sweet books recs, Flea market finds, a bit of screenshots from my phone; a series, BASICS I must have, an incredible facial and a spray you need to SMELL + MORE
Good morning good morning! Let’s jump right into things:
If you are a subscriber to The T List via The New York Times Style Magazine, you may have already seen this very special library in Paris called La Pharmacie des Âmes. This translates to “the pharmacy of the souls.” Isn’t that wonderful?
“The name of the shop is a way of saying, ‘come heal yourself with some new perspectives because you’re sick,’” Touhami said with a laugh. “In all seriousness, we’re here to instill a bit of doubt, to make people question their ideas on the world. It takes time but I think books have that power.”
Add this place to your list if Paris is in your near future!
Speaking of books, I just finished Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow - a story of friendship and love immersed in the gaming world, which is truly fascinating coming from someone who has never really thought much about videos games since playing Mario Cart in the 2000’s. Brutal, beautiful, original, complicated, tender, painful, smart and poignant this is a must read. Marx is my favorite character in the book. IYKYK. Some good quotes:
“What is a game?" Marx said. "It's tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow. It's the possibility of infinite rebirth, infinite redemption. The idea that if you keep playing, you could win. No loss is permanent, because nothing is permanent, ever.”
“We are all living, at most, half of a life, she thought. There was the life you lived, which consisted of the choices you made. And then, there was the other life, the one that was the things you hadn't chosen. And sometimes, this other life felt as palpable as the one you were living.”
“You are flying more slowly than last time, because you don’t want to miss any of it. The cows. The lavender. The woman humming Beethoven. The distant bees. The sad-faced man and the couple in the pond. The beat of your heart before you go onstage. The feel of a lace sleeve against your skin. Your mother singing Beatles songs to you, trying to sound like she’s from Liverpool. The first play-through of Ichigo. The rooftop on Abbot Kinney. The taste of Sadie mixed with Hefeweizen beer. Sam’s round head in your hands. A thousand paper cranes. Yellow-tinted sunglasses. A perfect peach. This world, you think.”
I just started Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus (my Mom sent it to me and she is a book recommending connoisseur) and I can’t stop reading it!! It’s keeping me up past my bedtime every night. Add to your list! Next up for me is Big Swiss and Cleopatra and Frankenstein.
I also went to the Long Beach Antique Market this past weekend and discovered a wonderful artist named Nadine Wener. She was absolutely lovely and I fell in love with her pieces.
Also came across the work of Gerd Rothmann, specifically his jewelry sculptures and did a bit of a deep dive. Would love to see his work in person.
Other items of interest aka my good ol “things I’ve screenshotted on my phone,” a series:
This Lack of Color island bucket hat with this green opal necklace and a bikini, I am ready for Summer and that’s all I have to say about it!!! ALSO you can always find Lack of Color bucket hats on Poshmark, I found one for $50. They also have many options exactly like this one on Etsy.
Then a very good pair of jeans via Alexa Chung’s story, if anyone knows what they are- slip right on into the comments! Then a verrrry delicious looking beauty of a dessert via the chef, Eleonore Toulin.
OH, I had a facial at the recently opened Formula Fig in West Hollywood and wow it was amazing!!! I did a nano needling collagen facial, which I am very into. BUT my facialist sprayed me with a mist afterwards and the smell, THE SMELL. Of course I immediately asked what it was and had her write it down and it’s Sangre De Fruta’s botanical tonic in Rose.
Here’s the thing, I have used many rose sprays before including this one that I love but THIS was different. It smells heavenly and as a Virgo, do not take that lightly. I am a SMELLS person. This was incredible. We also love to see this:

And lastly, a few clothing basics I have had my eye on:
1. This Zara blazer I spotted on Kasia Chinery - the crop looks great.
2. These Mango jeans, I like the how the top is hemmed and low rise.
3. Starting with the top row, a GREAT looking pair of Zara wide leg jeans, these are selling out fast!
4. Long sleeve black Helmut Lang top, love how slinky it looks with the thin straps and a wee bit of shoulder. Don’t love the open back but still think it could be cool. It’s on sale!
5. A crinkly white top by Ninety Percent- also on sale, it’s Shopbop’s Style Event!
6. 2nd row- I mean this blazer?!?!? It’s Acne and impeccable.
7. Let the legs be revealed!!! A mini mini skirt via Mango.
8. I really liked the color and fit of this Mango tee- selling out quick too!
That’s all she wrote! Who is watching Succession?? I am starting Beef as I have been hearing great things. I also have been loving the podcast, The Cutting Room Floor.
Also, did you know this about bees?? Well now you do. Honey is healing.
Please consider donating to Ralph Yarl’s go fund me account here and/or emailing the prosecutor - prosecutor@claycopa.com, yet another horrific act of violence toward an innocent boy. It is horrifying and we need to do better.
Love “pharmacy of souls” so much! And I’m very intrigued with the rose spray, may need to treat myself! Great read Moll!
