Back in the early 2000’s I used to spend hours on the internet (limewire) downloading and discovering new music via music blogs and the iTunes store. You know what comes next…burning my playlist to a CD and naming it something like “tO tHe WiNdOw tO ThE waLl 04.” Times have changed but I still love discovering new music and making (sick) playlists!
And what better day than Saturday to get some new tunes going, ya know!
We’ll be talking about Spotify specifically so following brands and dj’s you like would be my best suggestion. Here are some of my favorites:
The Row (iykyk), they release a new playlist every month said to be curated by Mary Kate and Ashley themselves! These playlists are so good, I have discovered so many new artist this way.
COS!
Gucci puts out a lot of playlists. Like this playlist curated by Italian Michelin-starred chef, Massimo Bottura.
Hunza G, some good collab mixes here.
Chandelier Creative (a creative agency I love), they put out cool playlists time to time and always like to check!
Zara Home also has some great playlists and I believe they add and change it up pretty frequently.
The Class- a lot of work out studios have a presence on Spotify, look into your local classes if you like the tunes they play.
Maison Kitsune, the most popular is the ‘Kitsuné Musique Essential’ as it’s regularly updated with new artists and releases.
I think I found this guy on TikTok, he discovers and shares new music.
Russh Magazine, a lot of magazines have a music presence! Very nice playlists too.
Rachel Nguyen is a great source on Spotify (also a great Instagram follow).
Also Olivia Lopez!
Isabel Marant has some good playlists.
This playlist curated by Wales Bonner and Tic.
Another find from TikTok, Olivia Wahlert, she has very specific playlist like this one that is all fruit and vegetable named songs alphabetically and also “frazzled english woman season.”
Pacha Ibiza has some playlist that will make you feel like dancing into the wee hours of the morning!!
The author, Dolly Alderton, does her Dolly mixtapes quite often.
Isabella Massenet is a DJ from London based in NY who also drops playlist from time to time.
Another great DJ to follow, Amrit.
Rolling Stone to live out your air guitar days.
Australian based Monster Children has sicckkk playlists and I love digging on their website.
D.S & Durga does a playlist for each scent they release, this one called Murder Mystery is fun. Halloween!
Also, every Monday Spotify releases a playlist specific to you called “Discover Weekly.” I have found soooo many new songs and artists this way. Highly recommend checking this out, you can also mute certain playlists from your music taste (for example if you have a white noise type playlist) so it doesn’t include it when it generates.
Any other great Spotify follows, let me know in the comments!
Thanks for reading and happy listening, happy weekend! x
