Happy Sunday!! It’s 90 degrees out and I am on my couch under a blanket with my AC cranking eating some watermelon. It’s amazing.
On a very exciting note, I am off to London for three months later this week, I quit my full time job and am maybe having a midlife crisis???? An epiphany???? Time will tell. I am going with one of my best friends and I will be looking for a work out there and traveling, if you have any recs send them my way! I will still be posting here, it may take me a second to get settled in and then I plan to share all the European finds!
Some Sunday discoveries that peeked my fancy the last two weeks.
I just finished the book, All Fours by Miranda July. Incredible, spectacular writing. Hilary Kerr’s review said it all. “Not to overstate it, but the book of the summer is Miranda July's All Fours. It's the most powerful, transformative novel I've read in ages, and is everything I love about literature: complex, vibrant, messy, honest, uncomfortable, inspiring, and beautifully tackles some of the questions women find themselves pondering in the middle of their lives. It's a phenomenon, and worth the wildest ride. Ignore the fact that I didn't give you a single plot point and just trust me: It's worth it.”
I honestly don’t think I have ever read a book that includes the topic of perimenopause, I actually learned quite a bit, it’s horny, sexy, wild, insane, beautiful, surprising, honest. It reminded me of the same energy as Big Swiss and a similar stream of consciousness as Little Weirds. I wish I could be more like the main character in some ways.
Now I am reading Dolly Alderton’s new book, Good Material. I also just bought a Kindle for my travels (much prefer the real deal but cannot WAIT to read on trains!!)- I purchased Say Nothing and Great Believers so far.

What have I been reading in you ask? Well, this is amazing and incredibly soft and cozy set by Donni (top and bottoms in cream). They so kindly sent this to me and it has become my Summer lounging fit of choice. I usually pair it with a cup of raspberry tea with lemon and honey and this amazing (and very viral) face mask that I LOVE.
Also, have been loving this baby rib quarter length boatneck top from Los Angeles Apparel. Think it’s very flattering on the collarbones, can’t quite see it here but you get the idea. A staple! Worn with the little yellow J.Crew shorts (on sale now)!
Speaking of J.Crew, have you seen the Maryam Nassir Zadeh X J.Crew collab? I almost bought this mesh bag in red but it sold out. Also, I found the shoes I posted about here by MNZ on Depop! I believe they are sold out everywhere so if you have $525 to spend and are a 9.5 (even more devastating that they are my size), it’s your lucky day!
Look how INSANELY cute this Sea New York X Zara kids collection is. RUKM? Also, a ton of their Massimo Dutti collab is on sale right now.
Big time on my wishlist is a pair of these Made Some sportswear shorts. I screenshot a few from their Instagram stories. Very Olympics vibes.
I tried the Rhode pocket blushes and they are indeed as good as everyone is saying they are. I got it in both piggy and sleepy girl, they really are creaaaaamy. I also picked up the Milk makeup cooling water jelly lip + cheek tint in coral orange and I looooove it. Especially lightly tapped on top of my favorite Make Beauty gloss in nude nova.
I just discovered this brand, Ossa, they do very cute phone straps which I am thinking about purchasing for my trip so no one swipes my phone!
I want to add these stainless steel plates and ice cream bowls to my collection. I have also really been wanting an electric citrus juicer, especially in the summer months to make some fun drinks and juice in general. This one looks great.
Also, I have been taking Broc shots for about 2 weeks now (per Dianna Cohen’s advice) and I really like it, I have been feeling pretty good both mentally and physically and energized. It also comes with a really cute and handy shot glass.
I listened to this podcast about “hidden habits to live your healthiest, happiest and most fulfilled life” with Robin Sharma. I enjoyed it, I do think women’s health looks much different then men’s health (the whole wake up at 4 AM/5 AM is actually not good for women unless you’re hitting 8-9 hours of sleep). However, I did find his chapter on, “hang out with clowns expect a circus,” interesting. Did you know that you are not only the people you surround yourself with but we are also affected by and can mimic the behavior of the friends of our friends and the friends of our friend’s friends?? WOW. Discernment of values and character and who you let into your tight circle is everything!!
I also listened to Emma Chamberlain’s podcast with Daisy Edgar-Jones because…Normal People of course. She also recommended this book which intrigued me.
Also this song cleaned my brain.
I absolutely loved this article in The New Yorker on Italian painter, Isabella Ducrot.
“Many who view Ducrot’s art are amazed to discover that the creator of such explicitly sensual works is 93 years old—revealing as much about the limitations of the observer’s imagination as it does about the reaches of Ducrot’s. “We tend to assign to the elderly—and especially to elderly women—the vague, and often diminishing, attribute of wisdom, thereby suggesting that their own creative, intellectual, or erotic evolution has come to an end,” Rebecca Mead writes. “Ducrot’s work and life offer an alternative possibility: that an individual might remain wide-eyed and open to experience—in an enduring state of naïveté, and with a capacity to be joyfully surprised—until the very end.”
I am very curious about this time of life, I really do think as women get older we will encounter a unique sense of freedom, unlike the version of freedom we may think we have now.
Thanks for reading as always! x
Molly, I love this one. I just finished All Fours. I’m speechless. I loved the book so much. And I absolutely love Miranda July. It was such an amazing story. She has this way of saying all the things people think deep deep down and she says it out loud, I love it and her!! Good luck in Europe! Can’t wait to see and hear about your adventure!
