When you dig in h&m, the soul of a tree featuring beautiful woodwork from Korea, 5 things I have recently screenshotted on my phone, best skincare items RN, AND perfect long sleeve shirts
FIVE
Good day to you. Hope all is well on this lovely Tuesday and you are feeling settled and ready for the real New Year to start! February 1st here we come since January is WEIRD. Thanks for stopping by and here we go.
1.WHEN YOU DIG AT H&M YOU FIND REALLY GOOD STUFF
I rarely shop at H&M because it feels chaotic and forever 21-ish and overwhelming but I recently downloaded their app and dabbled in some online shopping and found some SWEET sweet finds and I don’t say that lightly. Like useful and well made items that I will own for a long time. Let’s begin:
I am not one to buy a fake leather jacket mostly because the ones I own are vintage finds from thrift stores or DEPOP (had to mention it) but this jacket was shared by Courtney Grow and I was like wow this looks like an ACNE jacket and then saw it was H&M and immediately added to cart. We will see what it looks like in person but I think it’s going to be a winner. I got a size small and medium to see which I like more.

Then we have this green sweater which I wasn’t expecting much from but then I tried it on and it genuinely hangs PERFECTLY and is only 4% wool so you can wear it with just a bra and it won’t be super itchy- if you get itchy from wool like me! Or layering it with a t-shirt looks very cute. The green is also a great green. I got this in a size large and it is perfectly oversized.

I ordered these crinkly pants and I wish I got them in a size medium or large so they would be extra loungy/linen like. They are great quality but will probably need lots of steaming which is keeping me on the fence.

If you are going to buy anything from H&M, buy this 100% cotton poplin shirt. Firstly, we’ll start with the 100% cotton because that is key but the fit and the perfect sized collar? This is a staple beautiful piece and it’s $24.99. Stop over at COS and you will find the same shirt for $160.

I also ordered it in orange because I knowwww I will wear these all the time.
Then we have a raincoat because while it was down-pouring in LA for 3 weeks straight and I had to let my dog out every few hours I was like why don’t I own a raincoat and then this appeared. It’s simple, long, has a hood and is water repellant. It also goes with everything.

Lastly, we have this simple 100% cotton, slightly sheer long sleeve top. I love this top, it’s is the perfect length and can be dressed up or down.

2.THE SOUL OF A TREE
I came across this beautiful home brand called Namu Home Goods. It was founded by Diana Ryu who fell in love with trees and their inherent wisdom, she began reading more about trees and went to Korea to learn more about the woodworking philosophy there. She brought home lots of woodwork pieces from Korea and continues to do so to this day which is how her brand, Namu (meaning tree in Korean), came to be. They are truly stunning gallery level pieces of art- she often has exhibits so be sure to be on the lookout!
“During my year of re-engineering, when everything around me felt off-kilter, I began to imagine myself as a tree—strong and alive—weathering the bitter winter, knowing the warmth of spring was just around the corner. I heard the tree whisper: “don’t let a season dictate your life”.
Namu means “tree” in Korean, and Namu Home Goods strives to highlight the natural beauty of wood—with an artist’s eye—as a reflection of harmony, harvest, and peace. I'm dedicated to unearthing gallery-quality woodwork from Korea, sourced with a distinctly Korean-American aesthetic. The offerings look as beautiful in a midcentury modern as they would in a traditional Hanok.” source

I love trees, they are fascinating and beautiful and intricate and make life possible. If you are interested in reading more on the fascinating magical world of trees, I recommend the book “The Soul of a Tree” or “The Hidden Life of Trees.”
3.FIVE THING I RECENTLY SCREENSHOTTED ON MY PHONE
First up we have these screenshots from Erin Wasson’s story. I thought my bed skirt was decent but no no no, a split corner bed skirt is what I need now. AND the lamp for inspo.
Then we have a screenshot from Kat Collings (editor in chief of Who What Wear) of Diane Keaton wearing her favorite Margiela jeans that I then searched for in every crevice of the internet with no such luck.
I was very into this yellow iPhone case via Alice Pilate. Especially with the contrast of the black coat.
Jasmine Dowling posted a poll about what LED mask to get and I have been on the verge of pulling the trigger so this was helpful information. I have heard lots of good things about the Omnilux LED mask.
Lastly, we have these bootcut Diesel jeans- bootcut jeans are going to be a THING this year, good news is they are actually very flattering. Also, I haven’t heard the brand name Diesel in so long and now they are going for $200+ on eBay.
4.FAVORITE SKINCARE ITEMS RIGHT NOW
Let’s go in order. These are tried and true things that I have deep dived on and continue to repurchase. I have been loving both Moon Juice’s gentle wash and Naturopathica’s manuka honey cleansing balm to cleanse my face. Anything with honey in it my skin LOVES. If I am using vitamin c that day (which is most days), I use Beauty Stat’s vitamin c or Skin Ceuticals next. Vitamin C makes your skin GLOW and creates an even skintone. I then go in with a hyaluronic product- right now (and always) I am loving Moon Juice plump jelly, I have repurchased this sooo many times. I try to use this with damp skin (I spray my face with rosewater before using this- you can also pick it up at Whole Foods). Next up is my new favorite moisturizer, Diuex Lipid Rich moisturizer- check out the founder Charlotte on Instagram if you are into skincare, this stuff has a cult following. If it’s night time, I will also use a retinol from my dermatologist every 3 days and on recovery nights I will use a thick oil or Weleda skin food over everything to seal it all in!
Extra stuff I love, for a super hydrating face mask, I love Pai Resurrection mask- it has blue tansy in it which I LOVE. Kiehl’s overnight mask is also great for hydration overnight. This Summer Friday’s overtime brightening mask is insane, it smells like pumpkin and makes my skin bright and SMOOOTH. Lastly, if you can do anything for your skin, I swear by LED red light as mentioned above. When you are consistent with it WOW. I don’ think I will ever get Botox (NEEDLES) (I mean never say never) or lasers etc etc, so I don’t feel bad investing in my skin in other ways! If I were to do any treatment on my face, I would love to do microneedling, I have heard amazing things. I would also love to get facials every 2 weeks but I can dream!!
I also dermaplane my own skin with these. I love gua sha and the NuFace. This face steamer and red light facial brush are also great.
5.PERFECT LONG SLEEVE SHIRTS
Mens section people! That is where the good tee’s hide. I saw this tee on Elora Joshi and was like OK add to cart. I find it hard to find any nice quality loose but fitted in the right places long sleeve t-shirts but these looked perfect. They are the men’s washed jersey long sleeve crew necks from Muji. They are a Japanese company (of course) and 100% cotton- that is all you need to know.
A few new good recent follows to wrap it up: Yellowtrace (design magazine), Alexandra Carl (fashion director), Seen Library (if you like cool books and conversation).
Thanks for reading and see ya next time!
the yellow phone case and black rain coat! I also need all the skincare products lol I have 2
I’ve been looking for a new white shirt—thank you!!
